Polyester

Polyester is a synthetic fibre woven or filled into rugs and cushions across the SantHome range, chosen where water and UV resistance matter more than a natural handle. It keeps its colour and shape through repeated use, indoors or on a terrace, and dries fast enough to go straight back onto a chair or a floor.

Polyester

Properties

  • Synthetic polymer fibre: resists water absorption, UV fading and stretching better than natural fibres
  • Holds shape and colour through repeated outdoor use where cotton or wool would fade
  • Dries significantly faster than natural fibres after rain or washing
  • Often paired with a hollow-fibre fill for cushions, which stays springy after repeated compression
  • Less breathable than natural fibres, better suited to rugs and outdoor cushions than bedding

Care

Machine wash at 30°C, or wipe outdoor pieces clean, and air dry. The full routine is in our polyester care guide.

Polyester FAQs

Is a polyester rug as comfortable as a natural-fibre one?

It is softer underfoot than older synthetic weaves and holds its shape well, though less breathable than wool or cotton. It suits high-traffic or outdoor spots.

Why choose polyester cushions for outdoor furniture?

Polyester resists water absorption and UV fading far better than natural fabric fills, so cushions keep their colour and shape through a full season outside.
